Providence Public Schools Announces School Closure, Other Changes

(Providence, RI)--Providence Public Schools is closing an experimental high school as part of a larger reorganization effort.Superintendent Harrison Peters said Friday the closure affects Evolutions High School, which is part of Mount Pleasant High School, while another similar program called 360 will stay open.The school district is also adding secondary superintendents who will focus on elementary schools and middle and high schools, and cutting thirty staff members, mostly in the central office.One of the secondary superintendents comes from Hillsborough County Public Schools in Florida, which is where Peters is from.
