Executive Order Signed For Long-Term Healthcare Plan In RI

(Providence, RI)--Governor Gina Raimondo has signed a new executive order that creates a long-term vision for healthcare improvement in the state. The executive order directs the state health department, health insurance commissioner's office, and Office of Health and Human Services to work to implement a ten-year plan developed by health leaders who were convened by the Rhode Island Foundation. The order indicates the coronavirus is pushing to the forefront the need for a financially-stable healthcare system in the state, and Raimondo said last week that the virus is also highlighting the need to root out inequities in healthcare access for minority and low-income communities and other vulnerable populations.
