(Lincoln, RI)--The state is shutting down its coronavirus-testing site at Twin River Casino in Lincoln this weekend. The site, which is run by the National Guard and CVS Health, uses a same-day test that has been faulted for less-accurate results than other testing, and is no-longer being recommended by health experts.Rhode Island Department of Health Director Dr. Nicole Alexander-Scott said yesterday that the state will be shifting to tests at community health centers, hospitals and CVS drive-through sites which should have results in two to three days.Alexander-Scott called a backlog of results not being available for a week or longer, "unacceptable".
