Police Bill Of Rights Review Panel Meets For First Time

(Providence, RI)--A legislative task force to review the Rhode Island Law Enforcement Officers' Bill of Rights met for the first time on Wednesday.The task force was created as part of the nationwide racial justice movement spurred by the death of George Floyd, who died during a police arrest in Minneapolis.Jim Vincent, the head of the Rhode Island NAACP and a member of the task force, said he believes the bill of rights unfairly protects Rhode Island police officers who abuse their power.The task force is expected to report to the RI Senate by next February.
