COVID-19 UPDATE- Limit Thanksgiving to Household Members, Says Governor

Rhode Island Governor Gina Raimondo has suggested new guidelines for safely celebrating Thanksgiving. The most effective strategy is to limit gatherings to people in your household only, she said in Wednesday's weekly COVID-19 press briefing . If you are unable to follow that advice, the governor encourages Rhode Islanders to "get creative" and find new ways to safely gather with family and friends, such as:

  • Minimize your travel and exposure to different people and places in the two weeks before Thanksgiving.
  • Wear mask and watch your distance.
  • Keep group small (the fewer households, the better)
  • Seat people six feet apart
  • Eat outside
  • Keep household groups seated separately
  • Hold a remote Thanksgiving celebration via Zoom

As of 1pm on Wednesday, new data was not available for daily coronavirus cases.
