(Providence, RI) -- A Providence District Court judge is expected to deliver a verdict today in an excessive force trial against a Providence police sergeant. Joseph Hanley is accused of assaulting Rishod Gore while he was in handcuffs during an arrest made in Providence last year. Gore had been watching as a friend was being arrested when he said something to police that was deemed threatening. Hanley testified that some of the specific actions he is accused of during Gore's arrest were compliance measures, but he denied kicking him in the head.
