Providence Police To Receive Training

(Providence, RI) -- All 400 plus members of the Providence Police Department are receiving de-escalation and bias awareness training. The city made the announcement on Tuesday, the same day Derek Chauvin was convicted of the murder of George Floyd. Providence Mayor Jorge Elorza says advancing racial and social justice requires such biases to be eliminated in order to provide the best service for the community. The cost of the training is being covered by the Rhode Island Foundation.
