State Judge Lets Stand Vaccine Mandate

A Rhode Island Superior Court Judge will not stop the state from mandating that firefighters and EMTs receive Covid19 vaccines by the first of next month or risk losing their licenses.

At issue was whether or not the mandate constituted new working conditions that should have been dealt with as a matter of collective bargaining.

The firefighters union was seeking a delay in implementation.  Earlier in the week, a Massachusetts Judge threw out a similar suit by State Police Troopers who are being mandated to get a vaccination or risk losing their jobs.

Governor McKee meantime has not commented on the judge’s decision.
