Former Yankees Pitcher Carries Red Sox Hopes In Wild Card Showdown

The New York Yankees will send ace Gerrit Cole to the mound tomorrow night when they take on the Boston in the AL Wild Card Game.

It will be an 8 p.m. first pitch at Fenway Park as the two teams renew their legendary rivalry in a do-or-die elimination playoff game.

The two clubs have never met in the Wild Card before, but did famously match-up in a one-game playoff in 1978, highlighted by Bucky Dent's three-run homer over the Green Monster that propelled New York to victory.  That was nearly 40 years ago.
