Election Sees Few Faces, Voters At The Polls

It was a light lifting day at the polls throughout the state. Former Democratic city councilor Sam Zurier easily won the seat in defeating Republican Alex Cannon. He will succeed Gayle Goldin who resigned earlier this year for a job in the Biden administration.

Also in the state, in Portsmouth, voters approved a little more than 21 million dollars for school construction. In addition, voters have endorsed a plan to rehab the old Hutchinson School property and convert it into a senior center.

And, in Central Falls voters have approved a referendum that calls for 5.76 million dollars to be spent on various construction projects in town.
