No Death Penalty Possible In Boston Kidnapping Case

Federal prosecutors have dropped the pursuit of a death penalty sentence against a Providence man accused of a fatal abduction.

Louis Coleman allegedly kidnapped Jassy Correia outside of a Boston nightclub in February of 2019.

Days afterward, Correia's body was found in the trunk of a car driven by Coleman on Interstate 95 in Delaware.

Prosecutors made the declaration during a one sentence court filing. They did not say why they are taking the death penalty off the table.

Coleman's trial is scheduled to begin in February 2022.
