Rhode Island Delegation Celebrate Infrastructure Bill Passage

Rhode Island Congressmen David Cicilline and Jim Langevin voted in favor of the one-point-two-trillion-dollar infrastructure plan Friday night. It's estimated the Ocean State share's will be one-point-five-billion-dollars. The funding will be used for highway and bridge improvements, water infrastructure, public transportation, broadband and more.

“The Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act makes the largest ever federal investments in public transit, clean drinking water and wastewater infrastructure, clean energy transmission, and electric vehicle infrastructure. It also makes the largest investment in passenger rail since the creation of Amtrak and the largest dedicated bridge investment since we built the interstate highway system.

“These historic investments are desperately needed. I’m proud to say that this legislation will create millions of good paying jobs while addressing critical infrastructure needs like the South Quay Port Project and Mt. Hope Bridge in Rhode Island.
