Report: One In Six State Residents Food Insecure

The Rhode Island Community Food Bank says one in six households in the state struggle with food insecurity.

A new report says the pandemic has taken a significant toll on low-income households with over half the jobs lost during the shutdown in low-wage industries. The situation has eased somewhat but the report says food insecurity is still well above pre-pandemic numbers.

Officials say 15 point 1 million pounds of food has been distributed.

Officials say donations continue to be on the decline with the economy and the pandemic having something to do with that.
