As Covid Cases Rise- One Hospital Asking For The National Guard To Help

With coronavirus surging, the positive test rate in is now over 12-percent. 

The director of the state Department of Health is warning the public it's going to be a difficult January. 

Doctor Nicole Alexander-Scott says experts anticipates the rate of infection will reach the highest levels so far during the pandemic.

Meantime, there could be help on the way to the state hospitals. Those hospitals at more than capacity in many cases.

The Nurses Union at Rhode Island Hospital is asking the Governor to call up the National Guard.

. Yesterday, the governor said discussions with hospital officials are ongoing about how to best use the National Guard.    

Those guard members would do some of the non medical duties that nurses are forced to accomplish during a day.

So far there has been no comment from the governor on the request.
