Cranston Dentist Sues Over Healthcare Manadate

A hearing is set for this afternoon in a federal lawsuit against the state of Rhode Island over its COVID-19 vaccine mandate for healthcare workers.

Dr. Stephen Skoly, a dentist and oral surgeon from Cranston, and he is suing Rhode Island Governor Dan McKee and interim health department director Dr. James McDonald.

According to the 34 page suit, Skoly claims he was wrongfully denied a medical exemption from the vaccine because he has a history of Bell's palsy, and getting the shot would present a risk associated with that disease.

Skoly, who has been banned from his practice since October, also says he has natural immunity after recovering from the coronavirus.

Governor McKee has not commented on the suit yet.
