Some political rivals have reacted to news that Governor Dan McKee's administration is under investigation.
The U.S. attorney's office is reviewing a federally-funded educational consulting contract awarded to a company with ties to a long-time McKee political advisor.
Secretary of State Nellie Gorbea, tweeted quote, "Rhode Islanders deserve better."
Former corporate CEO Helena Foulkes said in a statement "another career politician finds himself in the shadow of an FBI investigation."
They are both challenging McKee for the Democratic party nomination.
As for Governor McKee he says his administration is cooperating with the investigation by the fed just like they would with any other investigation.
There has been no suggestion as to how long the investigation will take.
