FDA Approved Baby Formula Headed To RI Stores

There is good news for Rhode Island moms. Baby formula from the UK and Australia is ready to hit store shelves this week. The FDA has approved it as being a suitable replacement for American made formula.

“We are grateful that the United Kingdom and Australia’s formula manufacturers were able to make these products available to families here in Rhode Island and the United States, through the President’s Operation Fly Formula,” said McKee.

The Governor's office says the first batch of the formula will include Kendamil Classic and Organic formulas as well as seven types of Bubs brand formula.

“Although the labels look a little different, this formula has been approved by the federal government and is safe for parents to use,” said Dr. James McDonald, interim director of health.

Parents are asked to follow package directions. There is one thing parents will need to know right off the bat. The packages come with metric measurements.

There is no word on when specifically, the formula will be in the stores.
