Firefighters Get Federal Monies For Equipment, Training

Six Rhode Island Fire Departments are in line for more than two million dollars in federal funding.

The money is coming from FEMA and is designed to help first responders with safety and training.

The grants include approximately 900 thousand dollars for communications equipment and firefighter training in North Kingstown and Warwick.

Providence will get more than 250 thousand dollars for Fire Breathing Apparatus and for training.

Exeter will get more than 60 thousand dollars for new turnout gear for firefighter.

Johnston 41 thousand dollars for communications equipment.

More funding rounds are expected.
