State Rep: Florida Sending Immigrants- "Incredibly Inhumane"

Cape and Islands representative is slamming Florida Governor Ron Desantis for sending two planes of illegal immigrants to Martha's Vineyard.

Democratic Rep Dylan Fernandes, (left in photo) who represents Martha's Vineyard, accused Republican Desantis of "hatching a secret plot to send immigrant families like cattle on an airplane." The State Rep said it was only because of the compassion of the community that they were able to handle the immigrants/

Governor Baker issued a statement this afternoon, without mentioning the lack of a notice of the immigrants, nor did he mention the Florida Governor Ron DeSantis' name.

“On behalf of the Commonwealth, I thank everyone on the ground who quickly came together to provide assistance on the Vineyard. The Commonwealth has many resources for assisting individuals that arrive in Massachusetts with varying immigration statuses and needs and is working with all partners involved to make sure those resources are available to the migrants that arrived last night. In addition, the Baker-Polito Administration is exploring setting up temporary shelter and humanitarian services at Joint Base Cape Cod and will share additional information as soon as it becomes available.”

Meantime, Fernandes said local officials were never alerted so they couldn't plan ahead and said the dozens of migrants shipped there weren't even told where they were going. Fernandes called it "an incredibly inhumane and depraved thing to do."
