Rhode Island Coast Under High Surf Advisory Later Today

The National Weather Service is putting up a High Surf Advisory for coastal Rhode Island.

The advisory is in effect from 4 p.m. today to 6 p.m. Friday for large breaking waves that are expected to reach five-to-nine feet.

The weather service says the conditions are being caused by swells from the distant Hurricane Fiona.
