More Cameras Coming To Providence Streets

The city of Providence is planning to activate sixty new license plate-reading cameras.

The Flock Safety cameras are different from the school zone speed cameras which send fast drivers tickets in the mail.

The plate readers have been endorsed by Rhode Island police chiefs for helping solve cases.

Providence Mayor Jorge Elorza says the new cameras will result in more arrests for serious crimes.

There are about 85 total cameras in the city.
