The Chairman of the Legislature's Environment and Natural Resources Committee says he expects his committee to take up several controversial bills this week.
Representative David Bennett, the Warwick State Rep says they will take public testimony on five bills.
The most controversial may be a Bottle Deposit Law. The measure is being introduced by State Rep Carol Hagan McEntee of South Kingstown as a way to keeping the state cleaner.
Another bill, introduced by the chairman himself, would bar an eatery from using disposable food containers that are entirely or partly made from polystyrene.
A third bill proposed by the Chairman would create a refundable 25 cent deposit on so-called "nip" bottles.
The fourth bill proposed by State Rep Terri Cortvriend of Portsmouth would ban PFAS in carpets, cookware, cosmetics or ski wax, among other things.
A final bill would require water system operators to enter into a consent decree if the level of PFAS contaminants exceed the current standard as set by the State Department of Health.
The hearing is set for Thursday afternoon at 4:30pm.
