Cranston City Councilor Faces Drug Charges

Cranston City Councilor Matthew Reilly is facing a drug possession charge.

A police officer on Pontiac Avenue was flagged down to assist Reilly in a parked car on Monday.

The officer reportedly found a pipe and a substance that tested positive for crack cocaine and fentanyl.

Reilly has been released on bond, with a hearing scheduled for June 15th.

Cranston City Council president Jessica Marino called the charge "very concerning and disappointing", but she is looking toward the judicial process to determine innocence or guilt.
