Portsmouth Man Arrested For Thursday Morning Arson In Newport

A Portsmouth man is accused of setting a Thursday morning fire at the Misty Harbor Condominiums in Newport.

The fire damaged three of the 14 units at the condo complex and four other units had smoke and water damage.

There were no injuries but two of the families have been displaced.

Police say they identified Joseph Fragata through surveillance footage and that he allegedly used an accelerant in starting the fire.

Fragata is charged with first-degree arson, and he's scheduled to be arraigned this morning in Newport District Court.
