The Rhode Island Department of Health has issued a public health advisory due to an increase in non-fatal overdoses in Burrillville, Foster, Glocester, and Scituate.
An overdose spike alert is issued when a region sees a higher-than-usual number of non-fatal overdoses within seven days.
From March 28th through April 3rd there were fewer than five reports of non-fatal opioid overdoses in the four-town region, where the overdose threshold is three.
Health officials say that overdose activity exceeds historical data for the region and meets the criteria for an overdose spike alert.
