Pope Francis has named the Most Reverend Bruce Lewandowski as the next bishop of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Providence.
The Bishop Elect says he cried when he got the news Tuesday morning.
He says he would like to be called “Bishop Bruce.”
He says he always wanted to be a poor man serving among the poor who is good news for others.
Father Lewandowski succeeds Bishop Thomas Tobin who retired at the age of 75.
“Bishop Bruce” will be officially installed May 20.
