Charges Dropped In Domestic Violence Case Against Providence Police Sgt.

Domestic violence charges against a Providence Police Sgt. have been dropped after the alleged victim refused to testify.

Woonsocket solicitor William Dimitri told the judge on Monday that Peter Salmons girlfriend wanted the charges dropped, there was no crime and that she is not in fear.

Salmons was charged in February after Salmons girlfriend reportedly told Woonsocket police that he grabbed her by the neck and pounded her into a wall.

Salmons has been on paid leave since he was charged, and Providence Police officials say the administrative process is ongoing to determine if he will face disciplinary action.
