RIDOT To Shift Lanes At The I-95 And Route 4 Northbound Merge in Warwick

Beginning Friday night, the Rhode Island Department Transportation will be shifting all travel lanes to the right for road work where I-95 North and Route 4 North merge in Warwick.

RIDOT says the change is needed as crews begin work on a project to widen the highway to provide more space for merging traffic.

The lanes will remain open during peak travel times, but they will be narrowed, and drivers should reduce their speed in the work zone.

Officials say lane closures are likely during late evening and overnight hours and the shift will remain in place until early summer.

A second phase shifting lanes to the left will begin after that with the work expected to be complete in the fall.
