The Rhode Island Department of Environmental Management will begin treating Worden Pond for a highly aggressive invasive plant this week.
RIDEM says hydrilla covers more than 225-acres of the South Kingstown pond's 11-hundred acres.
That's up from 148-acres in 2024.
The treatment will begin on Friday and continue periodically through November.
Crews will be using an EPA-approved herbicide that will not harm fish or impact boating and swimming in the pond.
