Rhode Island's Congressional delegation is delivering more than four-point-five-million-dollars in federal grants for local firefighters.
The funding will be used to strengthen safety and training, upgrade equipment and purchase new emergency response vehicles for fire departments in Coventry, Lincoln, West Warwick, Newport, Woonsocket and on Prudence Island.
In addition, the Rhode Island Fire Training Academy will receive a grant to cover the cost of a new fire truck simulator, three new forcible entry doors, 15 new self-contained breathing apparatuses and 40 reflective helmet covers.
