The silly season's underway. An EYEWITNESS NEWS/ROGER WILLIAMS COLLEGE poll says the Governor's race in RI is a tight one out of the gate saying incumbent Gina Raimondo's in a virtual dead heat with GOP candidate and Cranston Mayor Allan Fung. Raimondo garnered 38% of the vote to Fung's 36% but with the margin of error it's a photo finish. The thing is, we're AWFULLY far from the finish. The poll says 17% are undecided...a big number. Republican turned Indy, Joe Trillo, only got 6%. It's safe to assume if Trillo wasn't in the race, it would benefit the Republican Fung which might explain why Fung decided to call him "TRADER JOE" in an interview saying Trillo "loves to cut deals with his pals up at the State House." After hearing that, Trillo, who chaired President Trump's RI campaign, called Fung a chameleon who will say and do whatever he needs to get along. Trillo adding FUNG "stands for nothing." OUCH! Fung's lesser know GOP primary opponents Patricia Morgan and Gio Frerroce must be loving the Fung-Trillo spat. Careful Allan, when it comes to name calling, remember who Trillo backed in the presidential race....the master of name calling.
