Convicted Child Rapist, Release From Prison, Moves To Providence

A convicted child rapist is free and living in Providence.  Richard Gardner served nearly thirty years in prison for the kidnapping and raping of young boys in Massachusetts and Rhode Island, but the Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court recently upheld a lower court's ruling that he could not be held indefinitely as a sexually dangerous person.  Gardner's offenses came before a law that requires address notification for sex offenders, however, the Providence Police Department confirmed Gardner registered as a sex offender in the city on Friday.
