Finally, Fall River's Mayor chose wisely. Locked in a legal battle with the Fall River City Council over whether he can continue in office, embattled Mayor Jasiel Correia decided to postpone his annual fundraiser at Battleship Cove. Dubbed "THE SUMMER BASH WITH MAYOR CORREIA" AT $125 bucks a pop, the event's FACEBOOK page posted the cancellation saying "Sometimes it takes a little to regroup and ensure a success!" Correia added "Let's stay positive and win on Tuesday and again in November." On Tuesday, Correia is set to face to opponents in a preliminary mayoral election. The mayor's postponement message didn't say if or when the event would be rescheduled. Smart move. I wouldn't buy any green bananas if I were him. Correia was arrested last week FOR THE SECOND TIME in less than a year accused of extorting hundreds of thousand of dollars from marijuana vendors. Last year, the 27 year old mayor was arrested on federal charges connected to his start up SnoOwl app which is now defunct. His trial on THOSE charges start in February prior to his latest indictment so his social calander will take a hit next year. The Fall River City Council has been demanding he step down but Correia has repeatedly refused and claims he's innocent of charges and there are no stains on his jacket. One member of the City Council disagrees saying Buddy Cianci's a priest compared to Correia.
