Apparently, Providence can still bank on Buddy. Trinity Rep's recent run of THE PRINCE OF PROVIDENCE, the play based on Mike Stanton's book of the same name really raked it in. According to Trinity, more than 13 thousand people saw the show in the 250 seat Dowling Theatre during its extended seven week run. The show played to 100% capacity and drew audience members from 30 states. They included film, television and stage producers from New York, London and L-A...so will Buddy head to the great white way? That's anybody's guess. What I guess is Trinity brings THE PRICE OF PROVIDENCE back. Non subscription tickets ranged from $27 to $250 bucks. Trinity had its biggest sales day in history when tickets for THE PRINCE OF PROVIDENCE went on sale in August and an online auction for the final pair of seats for closing weekend of the play raised $2,000 for the theatre's education programs. Interest in the production helped drive a 24% increase in the number of subscribers for the season as a whole. Oh yea, Buddy will be back.
