A 22-year-old woman from Central Falls, Rhode Island, has been charged with driving under the influence following a car crash in Lincoln on Monday. According to police, Shirley Catalan Pineda was driving at a high speed on Jenckes Hill Road when she lost control of her vehicle and crashed into a tree.
At the time of the crash, there were seven passengers in Catalan Pineda's car, including four juveniles. Three of them sustained minor injuries and were taken to the hospital for treatment. Two other passengers fled the scene and have not been identified, as those involved have been uncooperative with the investigation.
Police reported that Catalan Pineda showed clear signs of impairment, such as smelling of alcohol and slurring her speech. She was taken to the hospital with injuries that are not considered life-threatening. Catalan Pineda faces charges of DUI and four counts of child endangerment, with additional charges possibly pending.
