Gov:Contractor Will Pay Costs Associated With UHIP

(Providence, RI)  --  Governor Gina Raimondo is reacting to a federal warning issued to Rhode Island over the mismanagement of the state's food stamp program.  The USDA said this week in a letter to the state that the problematic rollout of the computer system known as UHIP could lead to the loss of almost a million dollars in federal funding.  Raimondo told WJAR-TV on Thursday that UHIP's contractor, Deloitte, will pay any potential penalties, not Rhode Island taxpayers.
