West Warwick Shoots Down Panhandler Resolution

(West Warwick, RI)  --  A town council resolution urging people to donate money to charity instead of giving it to panhandlers in West Warwick was defeated on Tuesday.  The board voted 4-to-1 against the proposal from council president David A. Gosselin Jr. following criticism from people in attendance and a letter of concern sent the day before from the ACLU and other groups. Gosselin said the proposal was not meant to be anti-homeless.
