RI Democrats React To DeVos School-Gun Proposal

(Undated)  --  Rhode Island officials are reacting to a report that U.S. Secretary of Education Betsy DeVos may allow schools to purchase guns for educators with federal funding.  The New York Times reported on Wednesday that the Education Department is looking into using a program in federal education law that would allow weapons purchases.  Governor Gina Raimondo issued a statement saying the plan is ill-advised and dangerous, while Congressman Jim Langevin called the proposal from DeVos outrageous.  Senator Jack Reed said the Trump administration should be arming teachers with books, technology and school supplies.
