Legislator Wants School Start Pushed Back

(Coventry, RI)  --  State Senator Lou Raptakis is re-introducing legislation to have the school year start after Labor Day, citing the intense heat wave that is affecting many students in the state this week.  The Coventry Democrat says Rhode Island schools are not equipped to deal with the type of heat that's being experienced, which he says makes it virtually impossible for children to learn properly.  Some schools are dismissing students early on Wednesday, including East Greenwich public schools.
