House Passes Rules For Current Legislative Session

(Providence, RI)  --  The Rhode Island House of Representatives has a set of rules to follow for this year's legislative session.  The Providence Journal reports a House rules bill passed Wednesday night.  The rule-making process was thrust into the spotlight by a group of Democrats called the Reform Caucus who are critical of the power of House Speaker Nicholas Mattiello.  The rules that were passed include one change based on the caucus' suggestion: bills that see a language change must wait 24 hours before being voted on, although the caucus wanted it to be 48 hours.
