Abortion-Rights Legislation Swing Vote Senator Is Introducing Amendment

(Providence, RI)--A state senator considered to be a possible swing vote on today's scheduled Senate Judiciary Committee vote on abortion-rights legislation is planning to introduce an amendment to the bill.Steve Archambault, who says he is pro-choice, says Senate Bill 152A goes well-beyond codifying Roe v. Wade and that his amendment properly does just that.Specifically, Archambault says 152A wipes out laws that are clearly permissible under the landmark U.S. Supreme Court decision without replacing them with any new safeguards. He also says he cannot support post-viability abortions that would permit very-late-term abortions, up to the date of birth.
