Claus Von Bulow Has Died

(Undated)--Claus von Bulow, the socialite who was convicted of the attempted murder of his wife at a trial in Newport and then acquitted, has died, according to a report from The New York Times.Claus von Bulow was accused of trying to kill Sunny von Bulow by injecting her with insulin to aggravate a low blood sugar condition, and she went into an irreversible coma in 1980.Claus was convicted by a jury in Newport in 1982 and sentenced to 30 years in prison.He hired Harvard law professor Alan Dershowitz for an appeal after the Rhode Island Supreme Court overturned the verdict, and was acquitted in the second trial in Providence in 1985.
