State Police: "We Are Devastated"

Massachusetts State Police are mourning the death of a State Trooper this morning.

Police say an accident on Route 93, about an hour or so from Providence, claimed the life of Trooper Tamar Bucci. She was apparently attempting to pull over to assist another motorist broken down on the side of the road, when her cruiser was struck.

Police officers from Stoneham and area emergency crews worked to try to save her life. She died at Mass General Hospital.

"Trooper Tamar Bucci gave her life in the line of duty last night when her cruiser was struck by a gas tanker as she attempted to drive up to and assist a disabled motorist. We are heartbroken for her loss."

An accident reconstruction team is working on the case as the investigation is continuing.

More details are expected later today.
