Half Billion Dollars In School Projects Presented

We're learning which schools are closing in the Providence Public School District.

Feinstein] Elementary School on Broad Street and Lauro Elementary on Kenyon Street are closing at the end of this school year.

Gilbert Middle School on Princeton Avenue is set to be "phased out" through the end of the 2024-25 calendar.

The Providence Public School District, which has been run by the Rhode Island state education department for the last three years, said the action is being taken as part of a facility modernization plan.

That plan will cost some 500 million dollars to rebuild and rehab as many as nine schools throughout the system.
