(Hopkinton, RI) -- Rhode Island's new welcome center and transit hub will be built off Interstate-95 at Exit 1 in Hopkinton. The Rhode Island Department of Transportation agreed to build the facility there with one concession that it would not have a gas station over concerns from Hopkinton's concern about pollution to a water aquifer on the site. The facility is expected to cost twelve million dollars with nine million of that coming from a federal transportation grant.
