SEAN SPICER; TEMPEST IN A TEAPOT OR DAYTIME SUPERSTAR?

White House press secretary and Barrington native Sean Spicer finds himself in the center of the Trump tempest and it's not necessarily a bad thing for him. CNN reported last week that Trumpis disappointed with Spicer's performance and is ramping up a search for his replacement as communications director. Spicer, by the way, wears two hats serving as both press secretary and communications director. CNN certainly didn't talk to his fans in Rhode Island, that's for sure. Portsmouth Abbey history teacher and Spicer's mentor Clifford Hobbins told the Providence Journal he LOVES Spicer's combative attitude saying it's the way to go or else they're going to run you over. I think Hobbins hit it on the head when he said Spicer has an unconventional boss and is approaching the job the same way. Spicer's early tenure has caused political fireworks and grist for late night parodies and SNL but, guess what? It's also caused a huge spike for the major cable news networks. When they carry his briefings live they're pulling in an average of 4.3 million viewers. Audiences across FOX NEWS, MSNBC and cnn GROW ABOUT 10% WHEN sPICER SHOWS UP ON SCREEN.
