Elorza Looks To Raise Revenue Through Several Legislative Measures

(Providence, RI)  --  Providence Mayor Elorza is seeking revenue to stabilize the long term financial future of the city.  The mayor is asking that state lawmakers approve a number of bills that include raising the hotel tax and taxing non-essential properties owned by non-profits such as colleges and hospitals.  He's also asking that the city be allowed to take more time to process red-light camera traffic tickets.  Currently state law says they must be processed within 14 days and Elorza wants it extended to 28 days.
