(Providence, RI) -- The Providence City Council is creating a Juvenile Hearing Board. The board will provide an alternative to being jailed. Cases involving non-violent crimes will be sent to the board by the Providence Police Department. The board made up of experts and advocates will consider those cases and recommend alternative sanctions instead of jail time.
