(Providence, RI) -- The Rhode Island Department of Transportation is pulling the plug on plans for a welcome center on Interstate-95 on Hopkinton. RIDOT asked the federal government to rescind the nine-million dollar grant for the project after concern from town residents as well concern about environmental and archaeological issues. A portion of the money the state had set aside for the project will be used to improve the existing welcome center.
