Report Questions Effectiveness Of DCYF

(Providence, RI)  --  The Office of the Child Advocate is calling for reforms at the Department of Children, Youth and Families.  It comes after a review of four recent child deaths and two near deaths.  The cases involved children between the ages of two and 18 months, and in each case the family had prior involvement with DCYF.  The report suggests a review of practices and policies, and the hiring of more investigators and social workers.
